Join us in Agile Learning Facilitator training programme
"Education is the sum of everything a person learns that enables that person to live a satisfying and meaningful life. Self-Directed Education is education that derives from the self-chosen activities and life experiences of the person becoming educated, whether or not those activities were chosen deliberately for the purpose of education." The Alliance of Self-Directed Education.
In Agile Learning Centers, the facilitators make sure that the children and youth have all the optimal conditions to learn freely, with intention, playfulness, planfulness, curiosity, creativity, critical thinking and agility.
Take a look at what is Self-directed Education, what is the Agile Learning model and how learning in nature can have amazing benefits for people. If you intend to change the way you are involved in education - as an educator: teacher, trainer, professor, youth worker, animator, facilitator, parent, join us in this self-directed endeavour, in Cluj-Napoca, mid July.
Our programme is structured in 2 parts: 1) "Roots" - bringing the opportunity to discover the foundations of Agile Learning and 2) "Trunk and branches" - going deeper into the educational philosophy or have the full experience participating in both ("Tree") to unlearn and relearn how learning, education and school could be. As Nature is our home and our best facilitator, the forest education experience will complete the understanding of "natural learning, in nature".

Possibilities
At Green School we learn the self-directed way, including at the events for adults. This means we are not designing a great training script that is supposed to "fit all", but we are creating learning spaces for you to be able to plan, discover, understand, create, practice, question, argue, justify, develop, reflect, share.
Our facilitators who are making the offerings are all trained in Agile Learning and are coming from different organisations, with different perspectives.
Among the offerings you can find:
When thinking what you can offer as experiences, consider that we are going to use the Green School spaces: indoor (training rooms, living rooms, garage - maker space, kitchen) and outdoor (gazebo, pedagogical garden, sensorial garden, hammock area, the hill) and surroundings (the Someș river is 2 minutes away and the forest 15-20 minutes away - walking distances). For the "Trunk and branches" we are using different parts of the city as learning spaces.
You can also join the offerings of 4 of the Green School facilitators, a group of parents and a group of Green School children.
In both of the trainings, "Roots" and "Trunk and branches", we will host learners of different ages (children, youth and adults), different learning styles, different personalities, different genders, different religions, different political views. Please consider that Green School is a safe space for people who can be however and whoever they want to be. We are a discrimination free and a consent-based, safe culture. We trust ourselves, our colleagues and the Green School, we take care of ourselves, of our colleagues and of the Green School, our opinion matters.

SoniaSonia is the educational architect of Green School Romania, a k-4 (soon to be k-12) school, that she co-founded after gaining her PhD in Educational Sciences (2013) from University of Bucharest and University of Vienna. She started to study and research the value of nature-based education programmes in 2003 and, with time, became an advocate for progressive education, nature-based education and self-directed learning.
She participated in multiple international training events in non-formal and formal learning contexts and in 2018 she did her ALF Summer training in New York with NY ALC, after creating already self-directed learning contexts. Sonia is an educational animator, trained in the French system (both in Romania and in France), with extensive socio-educational animation experience, being specialised in theatre (shadow theatre and black light theatre) and animation for inclusion and anti-discrimination. Trained in psychodrama, Sonia is using her experience in creating learning spaces for children, youth and adults. As a senior trainer in educational sciences, she has a long-term collaboration with Romanian National Agency for Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps. As a teacher trainer, her personal mission is to offer a different, research-based, perspective for schooling, deschooling, unschooling, world schooling, in nature, with nature, for nature. |
LuizaFor the past 6 years Luiza has been part of the Alternative University, a freedom-centered student learning community aimed at helping students take responsibility for their own learning process while developing a self-directed mindset. Her experience at the Alternative University supported her to be part of KEN Academy (www.kenacademy.org), a program whose purpose is to help kids learn and develop life and entrepreneurial skills. She has been an educator and curriculum architect for six years and she has been working with children from 6 to 13 years old. She is a Communication & Public Relations and Dance Movement Psychotherapy graduate. Recently she was certified in Social Emotional Learning and Character Development at Rutgers University, US.
Last year she decided to start a learning journey around the world in order to visit and learn from innovative and inspirational learning communities and schools. So she discovered Agile Learning and took the ALF training in Barcelona, then she had the chance to visit and learn from a few Agile Learning Schools in Mexico. She believes that learning happens all the time and she wants to create a space that invites children to learn in their own way and rhythm, a place where they have a voice and take the responsibility for their learning. That's why this year she is starting her own Agile School in Bucharest. |
MihaelaMihaela has always been in a rich process of multifaceted, whole-spectrum, personal development. Going from languages to business, from life coaching to neurolinguistic programming, from parenting and education to meditation and yoga.
Being an avid reader, writer, dreamer, explorer and creative human being, she loves to give back to individuals their sense of agency and supports young people in finding their unique voice and define their personal way of expression and growth. In 2016, after an intensive program held by the Agile Learning Center of New York, she became educational facilitator and at the beginning of this year she joined the Social Science and Counselling Skills programme held by the International Foundation for the Advancement of Reflective Learning and Teaching. You might want to go find her if you are looking for a boost of energy or need a hug, or want to prepare the perfect gnocchi with pesto sauce, or have a crazy project in your mind that you want to materialise, or want to paint, or saw or write… or improve your imagination and creativity, or simply talk … about pretty much everything :) |
